The cell concentrations (cell/ml) determined by flow cytometry for three independent growth curves at each temperature were fitted to a generalized additive model (GAM). Growth parameters were obtained as described in Materials and methods. Supplementary Figure 4 shows calculation of growth rate.
Axenic. NA, strains CCMP1529 and CCMP698 were not able to grow at 30°C.
