Carbohydrate structures synthesized by Campylobacter jejuni. The summarized structures include the capsular polysaccharides (CPS), the lipooligosaccharides (LOS) and the N- and O-linked glycoprotein glycans. N-glycans modify a large number of glycoproteins while O-glycans are found exclusively on the FlaA and FlaB subunits of the flagellum. Peptidoglycan sugars are the same as described in Figure 1. The free oligosaccharides (fOS) derived from the N-glycan pathway are not shown (see text). All sugars are in the pyranose form unless otherwise noted. Structures were found in: (McNally et al., 2005; McNally et al., 2006; Hitchen et al., 2010; Houliston et al., 2011; Monteiro et al., 2018; Riegert et al., 2021).
