Proposed model shows that female mice produce increased levels of FXIIIA. FXIIIA stabilizes fibrin clots. During GBS infection, FXIIIA interacts with the GBS fibronectin-binding surface protein ScpB and fibronectin, promoting bacterial entrapment, leading to diminished GBS dissemination and infection.
