Lactate administration induced organ dysfunction and vascular permeability after CLP sepsis. Mice were subjected to CLP or sham surgery followed by PBS or lactic acid (pH 6.8, 0.5 g/kg body weight) i.p. injection. Twenty-four hours later, blood was collected (A), and serum was isolated to examine serum lactate (B), AST (C), and creatinine (D) levels.
