Following PCR amplification of the plaque DNA samples by using universal 16S rRNA primers, the entire 16S rRNA locus was sequenced and analyzed by Molecular Research DNA Analysis, Inc. Any genus that represented >5% of the total population in either the carious or health toothy was illustrated.
