In this experiment, we incubated C2C12 myotubes with radioactive ¹⁴C-glucose and treated them with combinations of 100 ng mL⁻¹ of insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1) or 100 ng mL⁻¹ of rapamycin. We observed that ¹⁴C from glucose ended up in protein and that IGF-1 increased the incorporation of ¹⁴C into protein significantly by ≈ 71% [49].
