Summary of Critical Findings

Critical findings
 • National datasets assessing prevalence of non-partner sexual violence often aggregated AANHPI groups together.
 • Most studies with disaggregated subgroup data focus on East Asian subgroups.
 • Only one study was conducted among sexual minority individuals.
 • No studies examined knowledge of sexual violence among any AANHPI groups.
 • Interventions were lacking (n=2) with one among PI survivors, and one without disaggregated data among AA participants.
 • No interventions focused on AA subgroups or any other NHPI subgroups.
 • No studies have evaluated efficacy or effectiveness of interventions to address non-partner sexual violence.
 • Conflicting information was available examining the relationship between non-partner sexual violence and mental health.
 • Few studies discuss relationships between non-partner sexual violence and substance use, or non-partner sexual violence and physical health/well-being.
 • Only one study examined the validity of measure for sexual harassment frequency and labeling among AA women.
 • Only two studies addressed the intersection of gender and race (i.e., the racialized hyper-sexualization of AANHPI women).
