Alternative pathways of gluconic acid formation from glucose in H. boliviensis DSM 15516. Glucose utilization can follow the direct oxidative pathway in the periplasmic space to gluconic acid or enter the cytoplasm and follow the phosphorylative pathway to produce glucose-6-P.
