Attenuation of EMT in TGFβ2–induced hRPE by αBC-P. Sub-confluent fetal hRPE cells were treated with TGFβ2 (10 ng/mL) alone or/with Scr. (75 μg/mL) or/with αBC-P (50 and 75 μg/mL) or αBC-P (75 μg/mL) alone for 48 h. αSMA and Vimentin mRNA increased significantly with TGFβ2 treatment, and αBC-P treatment significantly decreased their levels. E-cadherin and Sirt1 mRNA decreased significantly with EMT, and αBC-P treatment significantly increased their levels. Scr: Scrambled peptide, αBC-P: αB crystallin-chaperone peptide.
