Activation and survival ratios between successive follicle development stages in Amh^+/+ and Amh^−/− mice. Survival ratios were calculated by dividing the follicle count at a particular stage by the follicle count at the preceding stage for each mouse. Survival ratios are shown for transitioning/primordial (A), primary/transitioning (B), secondary/primary (C), small antral/secondary (D), medium antral/small antral (E) and large antral/medium antral (F) follicles. Data are expressed as mean ± SEM and were analysed by Student’s t-test (A, D, E) unless the assumptions were not met, in which case Mann–Whitney U tests were used (B, C, F).
