Grade Definition
Grade 1 No need for drugs or surgery, endoscopy, or intervention
Grade 2 Requiring some treatment, including blood transfusions and parenteral nutrition
Grade 3 Requiring surgical, endoscopic, or radiological intervention
 3a Intervention not under general anesthesia
 3b Intervention under general anesthesia
Grade 4 Severe life-threatening complications need to be transferred to the intensive care unit or special care unit
 4a Single-organ dysfunction
 4b Multiorgan dysfunction
Grade 5 Resulting in death
