Panel 1 is a tissue section corresponding to a sample obtained from a loop infected with M90T for 8 h in a rabbit treated with the control antibody. PMNs streaming through the lamina propria and invading the epithelial lining are shown. Panel 2 is a tissue section corresponding to a sample obtained from a loop infected with M90T for 8 h in a rabbit in which IL-8 has been neutralized by MAb WS-4. A limited number of PMNs gain access to the lamina propria. These PMNs do not significantly invade the epithelial lining. Bars, 10 μm.
