The extent that Republicans updated their beliefs toward the opinion of the Democrat bot during the collaborative online task across experimental conditions, before and after the 2020 Iran crisis. The data are collapsed across conditions. Vertical axis describes the post-stratified average belief update (in percentage points), where strata are defined by gender, political knowledge, the accuracy of initial guess, and awareness of bot’s membership in the opposing party. Larger values indicate that the participant updated their beliefs to become closer to the bot’s opinions, demonstrating greater receptivity to social influence from the other party.
