Exercise training reverses aberrant myelopoiesis in obesity. In obesity, hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) differentiation skews toward myelopoiesis, resulting in an overproduction of pro-inflammatory myeloid lineage cells in circulation and HSC exhaustion. Exercise reverses these effects by promoting HSC maintenance and inhibiting aberrant myelopoiesis. Green lines indicate the effects of obesity and red lines indicate the effects of exercise.
