Models fall into three categories: Constant diversification (CD), Reproductive-mode Dependent Diversification (RmDD; state-associated rate shifts, with or without hidden traits), Reproductive mode Independent Diversification (RmID; rate shifts only associated with states of hidden traits, not observed reproductive modes). RmDD models can have different numbers of hidden traits, resulting in different numbers of rate categories.
