Figure 2.
Results of Partial least Squares (PLS) analysis with the early and late Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) scores as output variables and the Premenstrual Symptoms Screening Tool (PPST) depression-anxiety and insomnia scores, relation dissatisfaction, and the Abuse Assessment Screen, item 1 (AAS1) score as direct input variables. Mental-physical (mental-phys) neglect predicted the PSST and EPDS scores. The PSST depression-anxiety score was entered as a latent vector extracted from 10 PSST items, whilst all other variables were entered as single indicators. This final PLS model shows only the significant paths. In this model, the PSST depression-anxiety partly mediates the effect of mental-physical neglect on the early and thus late EPDS scores. Shown are path coefficients (with exact p values) and loadings (with p values) on the PSST latent vector. The white figures in the blue circles indicate explained variance.
