Numerical simulations of the homogenised equations (11) for the demographic parameters of the weasel-vole system (E1=0.9,B1=2.4) system from Fig. 5. We consider the η=1.0 (left plots) and η=7.0 (right plots) cases, for different values of the bifurcation parameter C with respect to its critical value Ccrit: ϵ=C-Ccrit=0.01 (upper plots), 0.5 (centre plots), 1.0 (lower plots). The solutions are plotted at T= 500,000. The same initial conditions, numerical scheme and discretisation from Fig. 6 were used. Boundary conditions: Dirichlet (h,p)=(h,p) at X=0 (steady state—dashed lines) and zero-flux at X=L=7000. Other parameters: β=1, δ=1 (Color Figure Online)
