  • New learning is more likely to be attended and remembered if it has meaning and contains emotional “hooks”.

  • Optimal emotion level is necessary for learning to take place.

  • Amygdala becomes overactivated, new information prevented from passing to memory.

  • Information must get through amygdala to get to hippocampus for memory storage and reasoning parts of the brain.

  • Must have mild to moderate challenge to stimulate authentic curiosity and engagement in lessons.

  • This will motivate students to work toward greater understanding and connection with the material.
