Western immunoblot detection of PAc, GTF-I, or GTF-SI expression in S. mutans strains. Surface proteins were extracted from the cell in the stationary phase of growth. The cell extracts were subjected to SDS-PAGE (7.5% polyacrylamide), proteins were blotted onto nitrocellulose membranes, and blots were probed with rabbit serum raised against recombinant PAc protein (A) or GTF-I (B) of S. mutans.
