Approximately 20% of cells within the lymph node medullary sinus stain positively for CD11c. (B) Control vervet, mesenteric lymph node. CD11c-positive antigen-presenting cells (APCs) make up about 80% of the cells within the cortex and medullary sinuses of the lymph node. (C) Y. enterocolitica-positive vervet, placenta, case 20. CD11c-positive APCs are centered on areas of necrosis and are also increased in maternal blood. (D) Control vervet, placenta. CD11c-positive cells are rare within the control placenta.
