Leukocyte and macrophage infiltration and SMC content in aortic root lesions of MetS KKAy+/–ApoE–/– and non-MetS KKAy–/–ApoE–/– mice. Aortic root sections were subjected to immunohistochemistry using CD45, CD68, and α-SMA antibodies. Images were taken at 10x magnification. Total lesion area and positive staining area of lesions (in sq. pixels) were quantified in each section using Image J.
