Seven independent variables including the six baseline characteristics (Age:55-64 years/others, Cancer site: esophagus, lung, head and neck/others, hospital stay:31 days or longer/others, time elapsed since last cigarette: 4-30 days/≤3 days, self-confidence about post-discharge abstinence:70% or stronger/60% or weaker, FTND score: 0-3/4-5/6-10) were used in the analyses.
Model 1: The responders who returned a completed questionnaire on post-discharge abstinence were entered in the analysis.
Model 2: Non-responders (n=50) who satisfied the eligible criteria, were included in the analysis as having failed to quit smoking after discharge.
