Flow of patients among the two stages of the PROVIDE trial

The first stage of immunological screening was aiming to classify patients with septic shock and without septic shock into MALS (macrophage activation-like syndrome), immunoparalysis, and intermediate state. The second intervention stage was a double-blind, double-dummy randomized clinical trial where patients with septic shock and MALS or immunoparalysis received blind adjunctive treatment with placebo or personalized immunotherapy.
