Trial structure is illustrated in 1–3. Before the onset of the trial, a central image appears to direct the child’s attention to the screen. Then (1) Trial begins with silent preview of two images. (2) A central stimulus appears, and remains until child fixates on it. (3) Central image disappears and the label of the target object is spoken (Car! That’s cool!).
