Due to the size of the NAM population and the challenges of evaluating the entire population at once in a single trial, the population was split into three sets of varying sizes (A, B, C). Each set was evaluated under field conditions in a single environment in the first year before a subset of each set was selected for further evaluation in at least two sites in subsequent years (MET years)
