Effects of daidzein on EFS-induced and non-adrenergic contractions of human prostate tissues. Contractions were induced by EFS (A,B), endothelin-1 (C,D) and U46619 (E,F) in the presence of 100 µM daidzein (A,C,E), 10 µM daidzein (B,D,F) and corresponding amounts of solvent (DMSO) for the controls added 30 min before the construction of frequency and concentration–response curves. Data from experiments with tissues from n = 5 patients are shown in each diagram. In each experiment, tissue from one patient was allocated to the control and daidzein groups. Data are means ± SDs in frequency/concentration–response curves (p-values for whole groups from two-way ANOVA), and Emax, Ef50 and EC50 values are from all single experiments (calculated by curve fitting) in scatter plots (p-values from two-tailed t-tests).
