N-acetylcysteine inhibits the effects of SARS-CoV-2 mosaic (S-E-M) on inflammasome and redox mRNA expression markers in differentiated U937 macrophages. Differentiated U937 macrophages were incubated with N-acetylcystine (NAC) at 16 µM, 35 µM, 1.6 mM, and 5 mM for 144 h, followed by the stimulation with mosaic (S-E-M) 50 ng/mL for 24 h. mRNA expression of target genes was measured by RT-qPCR. Data are presented as scatter dot blot of n = 4 independent experiments run in triplicate, with median and interquartile range values. Statistical analysis was carried out using by Kruskal-Wallis test and Dunn’s post hoc test for multiple comparisons. * p < 0.05 vs. control. # p < 0.05 vs. mosaic (S-E-M) stimulus.
