Cytotoxic effects of SPE-AuNPs on different cell types. MCF-7 human breast cancer cells (A) and Vero normal cells (B) were exposed to different concentrations of SPE-AuNPs for 24, 48 and 72 h, and the effect on cell viability analyzed by MTS assay. The number of viable cells after treatment is expressed as a percentage of the vehicle only control (untreated cells). Experiments were done in triplicate and the bars in the graph represent SD (*P < 0.05, **P < 0.01).
