Role of metabolic activity of Y. enterocolitica in IL-8 production of HeLa cells. Cells were exposed to viable, heat-killed, or gentamicin (100 μg/ml for 1 h)-killed Y. enterocolitica (Y.e.) pYV−; after 3 h IL-8 mRNA production and secretion in the supernatant were determined.
