Primary wildtype bone marrow-derived macrophages where induced to undergo pyroptosis in the presence of glycine, alanine, serine or valine at either 5 or 15 mM. (A) Similar to the work of Loomis et al. (Cell Death and Disease 2019), glycine exhibits a greater extent of cytoprotection compared with alanine >> serine, valine as measured by LDH release. (B) BN-PAGE for NINJ1 shows that amino acid treatment limits NINJ1 aggregation in pyroptossi with a similar hierarchy glycine > alanine > serine, valine.
