Biofilm Targeted Antiseptic Test (BOAT). The bottoms of the wells on the polystyrene microplate are covered with bacterial biofilm. A dark red coloration of the wells indicates that the bacterial biofilm survived treatment with the compound. The absence of red coloration is an indication of eradication of the biofilm formed in the well. (I) positive control (untreated biofilm), confirming the ability of the test strain to form biofilm; (J) negative control wells filled with medium (no biofilm) confirming the sterility of the test performed; (AD) biofilm treated with the compound at the specified concentration (640, 320, 160, 80 µM respectively) for 60 min; (EH) biofilm treated with the compound at the specified concentration (640, 320, 160, 80 µM respectively) for 30 min.
