Western blot analysis with anti-OdhI antiserum using crude extracts from C. glutamicum ΔglnX2 as the positive control and 20 different ΔglnX2 suppressor mutants (K1 to K20) that were able to grow on glutamine agar plates again. The strains were cultivated in BHI medium with 4% (wt/vol) glucose. In each case, 10 μg of protein was separated by SDS-PAGE (15% separating gel) and used for Western blotting. On the bottom line, the OdhI mutations identified in the 20 ΔglnX2 suppressor mutants are listed (R60-, Q53-, Q65-, Q123-, nonsense mutations; FS, frameshift mutations; –, no mutation found in odhI, odhA, and pknG).
