Replication of C. pneumoniae in IFN-γ-treated ASMC and competitive inhibition of IDO activity using 1-MT. Infected ASMC were treated with increasing concentrations of IFN-γ for 48 h followed by quantitation of immunofluorescently stained inclusions (■). ASMC were pretreated with 20 mM 1-MT, infected with C. pneumoniae, and stimulated with increasing concentrations of IFN-γ (Inline graphic).
