The miR-19 family expression levels are increased and the PPARG mRNA expression levels are decreased in the human aSAT of patients with morbid obesity. After body weight normalization induced by BS, these trends are reversed. The miR-19a (A), miR-19b (B) and PPARG (C) expression levels were analyzed in the aSAT of normal-weight control patients and morbidly obese patients. Data are represented as mean ± SEM (for miRNAs: Control n = 22 and Obese n = 42; for PPARG: Control n = 32 and Obese = 134) in arbitrary units, where 100% is equivalent to the control patients. Significance was determined by t-test analysis, ** p < 0.01 and *** p < 0.001 versus the control. After body weight normalization induced by BS, the miR-19a (D), miR-19b (E), and PPARG (F) expression levels were reanalyzed in six patients. Data are represented as mean ± SEM in arbitrary units.
