(Modified from Zheng et al. [15]). Exosomes are nano-sized (30–150 nm) extracellular vesicles secreted via exocytosis from different cell types, including cancer cells. They are taken up by target cells, which communicate information via surface protein signaling as well as through the transfer of nucleic acids, lipids and other molecules.
