Table 1.

Substrate specificity of bony fish ALOX-isoforms with oxygenated polyenoic fatty acids. Different oxygenated metabolites of polyenoic fatty acids were used for comparative activity assays. For these assays the different substrates were incubated in PBS (30 µM substrate concentration) and the rates of substrate conversion during a 10 min incubation period was assayed by RP-HPLC. The rate of AA conversion was set 100% and the relative conversion of the other substrates was calculated. Cellular lysate supernatants were used as enzyme source and identical amounts of enzyme were added to the different substrates. n.i. not identified.
