Non-diabetes risk factors for acquisition of melioidosis are alcohol use disorder, chronic lung disease, chronic kidney disease, renal calculi, heart disease, thalassaemia, cancer, and chronic corticosteroid therapy. Of 1345 patients, 1010 (75.1%) survived and 335 (24.9%) died at one month.
