Treated groups (closed circles) received approximately 2 mg of L-NAME per kg of body weight per day (1g/liter in their drinking water) from day 4 postinfection. Untreated mice received normal drinking water (open circles). Both WT and IL-5−/− mice treated with L-NAME had significantly reduced survival compared with their untreated controls.
