Eligibility, randomisation, and follow-up. Participant flow in the study is described at each step, including information about the number of participants analysed in each group. Of the 1453 eligible patients, a total of 469 were randomised, and ultimately 394 were analysed in the modified intention to treat cohort. This included 188 participants in the dexmedetomidine group and 206 in the placebo group.
