(A) The number of neurofilament-positive axons in the distal stump appeared to be elevated with all PPARγ agonists in comparison with the vehicle control, with statistical significance seen with sulindac sulfide, diclofenac, and GW1929 local treatment. Doses delivered locally to the site of injury were 11 µg/day diclofenac, 11 µg/day sulindac sulfide, 2 µg/day GW1929, 12 µg/day indomethacin, 0.12 µg/day pioglitazone, and 8 µg/day naproxen.
