BALB/c wild-type or mutant IFN-γ-null mice (five per group) were treated with vehicle or DEM and challenged with E. coli 2 h later. Liver tissue and blood samples were recovered 6 h later. Shown are the average values from two experiments. The detection limit of the IFN-γ assay was 33 pg/ml. ∗, this group differed significantly from the corresponding wild-type group (P < 0.01).
