Strategies used to inhibit upregulated oncogenic miRNA include: AMOs that bind to miRNAs directly, miRNA sponges that have multiple binding sites for miRNAs, and miRNA masks that bind to the mRNA target of miRNA. 4B. One strategy used to restore downregulated tumor suppressor miRNAs is miRNA mimics that act in the same manner as tumor suppressor miRNAs by binding to the mRNAs of oncogenic genes and inhibiting their expression.
