The cumulative signal along the z-axis through the middle of the volume normalized by the total amount of signal. Due to the normalization of the total signal the difference in signal over depth is smaller than in Figs. 7 and 8, but a clear difference remains between the two fiber types. The side-firing fibers have reduced signal at deeper depths compared to the flat-tipped fiber, with a slight increase of signal in the first 0.135 mm.
