VPA analysis was performed to analyze the relationships between the environmental variables and methanotrophic community (based on OTU level). Montecarlo test with 999 permutations was used to determine significant difference. TN: total nitrogen; TOC: total carbon; TOC/TN: carbon to nitrogen ratio; TP: total phosphorus; NH4+-N: ammonium nitrogen; NO3−-N: nitrate nitrogen; AAT: annual average temperature; WC: water content. Significant correlation: **p < 0.01 and *p < 0.05; non-significant correlation: p > 0.05.
