Structure of an interferon‐β dimer (PDB ID: 1AU1, visualized with ucsf chimerax version 1.4) [196, 197]. Interferons are natural cytokines, which regulate adaptive and innate immune responses [194]. The two monomer chains (orange and green) of the interferon‐β dimer are coordinated by a zinc molecule (gray, with metal coordination bonds in lavender). Both chains possess one or more beta‐d‐glucopyranose residues (purple backbone) and one 6‐tert‐butylsulfonyl‐N‐(5‐fluoro‐1H‐indazol‐3‐yl) quinolin‐4‐amine residue (pink backbone).
