Localization of the Douro River estuary with the fish sampling areas. All fish were captured in the area defined by the coordinates 41° 8‘37.95″N, 8°40'29.27″W and 41° 8'39.11″N, 8°37'49.35″W. Sea bass were mainly collected in the downstream area (blue) and grey mullet and flounders in the areas indicated in yellow and green.
