The instrumented walkway setup to investigate the effectiveness of the soft robotic ankle-foot orthosis with multi-material actuator for variable support (MAVS) actuation for lateral ankle support during walking over compliant surfaces. The dual-axis robotic platform utilized two conditions for compliance in the lateral direction for the ankle as the participant walked across the platform, providing randomized levels of surface compliance each time the participant steps on the platform.
