Effect of femicide news on helpline calls, additional falsification exercises. Note: OLS estimates of lags and leads and corresponding 95% confidence intervals as from Eq. (4). The baseline time period is t1 (one week prior to the occurrence of a femicide in a given province). The dependent variable is the number of helpline calls per 100,000 population. Treatment is assigned to (a) adjacent provinces, or (b) female homicides associated to reasons other than gender-based violence. Population-weighted estimates include province and week-year fixed effects. Standard errors are clustered at province level.
