FIG. 11

Pheromones stimulate filamentous growth of S. cerevisiae and C. neoformans. (A) Haploid MATa cells of S. cerevisiae are stimulated to invade the agar by pheromone. The disk containing synthetic pheromone was placed on the surface of the lawn of cells, and following growth, the surface of the agar was washed. (B) MATα cells of C. neoformans are stimulated to haploid fruit by confrontation with MATa cells (293).
