(A) Study timeline: adult and aged macaques were BCG-vaccinated and challenged by lung instillation with tuberculin or saline (NaCl, control) for determination of recall responses over time. BALs were performed 48hr days and 72hr post-challenge. Peripheral blood was collected at the times indicated for determination of systemic responses in vaccinated macaques. (B) Age and weight of 3 adult and 3 aged macaques included in the study, shown as averages. (C) Schematic of tuberculin and NaCl (control) lung challenge.
